§ 15-2.1. Use of parish equipment by municipalities

  • (a) A municipality may request the use of a parish-owned tractor and bush-hog for the purpose of mowing grass on public property within their incorporated limits. This request must be in writing from the mayor of the municipality to the President of the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury, P. O. Box 799, Natchitoches, Louisiana 71458-0799. The request must be signed by the mayor of the municipality and must designate the person who will use the parish equipment in the municipality.

    (b) If the designated operator of the parish-owned equipment is an employee of the village or town requesting its use, the following additional information shall be required:

    (1) Documentation of workers compensation insurance in force from the mayor.

    (2) A "hold harmless" agreement signed by the mayor of the municipality.

    (c) If the designated operator of the equipment to be used is not an employee of the municipality, he or she shall sign a "hold harmless" agreement as prepared by the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury. This agreement shall be on file in the office of the parish administrator of the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury.

    (d) It is hereby understood and agreed that the parish-owned equipment used by the municipality shall be returned to the police jury in the same condition as borrowed.

    (e) It is understood and agreed that the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury can require the return of the equipment discussed herein at any time it has need to do so.
