§ 15-3.1. Maintenance of dry hydrants
Any fire protection district legally created by the parish police jury may request maintenance by the parish police jury department on those roads which provide access to dry hydrants by emergency vehicles, subject to the following conditions:
(1) It shall be the responsibility of the fire protection district to inspect all access roads to dry hydrants and report, in writing, any and all needed maintenance or repair to the director of public works of the parish police jury highway department.
(2) Any dry hydrant access road that is damaged as a result of a fire district's vehicle being on said road in an official capacity may be repaired by said highway department.
(3) The authority of the highway department to repair any access road as described above shall extend to the restoration of the road to its original condition. The highway department shall not be responsible for improving the overall condition of the road unless expressly authorized by the jury as a whole.
(4) Due to the emergency nature of the maintenance of dry hydrant access roads, the highway department shall make every effort to perform maintenance and/or repairs in a timely manner.
