§ 16-4. Littering

  • (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally dump, leave, place or deposit any glass or metallic objects, trash, rubbish, refuse, garbage or other waste material on any private property, without permission of the owner of said property, or on any highway, roadside park or on any lands adjacent thereto, or in any ditch, drain, water outlet or inlet constructed and/or maintained by the parish, or in or on any bayou, lake, river or other body of water whatsoever within the parish.

    (b) Any person, persons, firm or corporation, or if by a corporation, the officers thereof, and the agents, servants or employees of any person, persons or associations of persons, firm or corporation, who shall violate any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall, at the discretion of the presiding judge, be fined the sum of ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents ($99.99) or be required to pick up the refuse within a reasonable area as designated by the judge.
