§ 17-1. Authority and purpose

In accordance with the provisions of Louisiana Statute 33:101 et seq., as amended and in order to promote the health, safety and general welfare of the City and Parish of Natchitoches, to provide for the proper arrangement and width of streets in relation to other existing or planned streets and to the master plan, to provide for the harmonious development of the unincorporated areas of Natchitoches Parish, particularly those subject to development pressures lying adjacent to municipalities in the parish having two thousand five hundred (2,500) population or more as listed in 1990 federal census, and to provide adequate and convenient open space for traffic, vehicular parking, utilities, access of fire fighting apparatus, recreation, light and air and to avoid congestion of population, the following regulations are hereby adopted by the planning commissions of the City of Natchitoches and the Parish of Natchitoches.
