§ 2-25. Same—Retirees
(a) Definition. "Officially retired," as used in this section, shall mean any police juror or full-time regular employee of the police jury who has retired and is receiving retirement benefits under the parochial employees retirement system of Louisiana.
(b) Right granted. All police jurors and full-time employees of the police jury meeting all of the eligibility requirements herein contained who officially retire under the parochial employees retirement system shall be entitled to participate in life and health (hospitalization) group insurance plans provided for members and regular full-time employees of this police jury.
(c) Eligibility.
(1) The retiree shall have officially retired under the parochial employees retirement system of Louisiana.
(2) A retired juror must have served continuously for at least four (4) years immediately preceding his official retirement.
(3) The retired employee must have been continuously employed by the police jury for at least five (5) years immediately preceding his official retirement.
(4) The retired employee must have continuously participated in the group health (hospitalization) and life insurance programs of this police jury for the last four (4) years immediately preceding his official retirement.
(d) Extent of participation. All such retirees shall be entitled to participate in such group insurance programs on the same basis as regular full-time employees of this police jury.
(e) Participation by former elected or appointed jurors. In addition to the above, any person who has served Natchitoches Parish as either an elected or appointed police juror, shall be entitled to participate in life and health (hospitalization) group insurance plans offered by the Natchitoches Parish Police Jury, provided said person pays the entire cost of said insurance.
