(a) Regular full-time employees shall be granted the following paid holidays:
New Year's Day .....January 1
Martin Luther King's Birthday .....3rd Monday in January
President's Day .....3rd Monday in February
Good Friday .....variable
Memorial Day .....Last Monday in May
Independence Day .....July 4th
Labor Day .....1st Monday in September
Veteran's Day .....November 11
Thanksgiving Day .....4th Thursday in November
Day After Thanksgiving Day .....4th Friday in November
Christmas Eve .....December 24
Christmas Day .....December 25
(b) Should one of the above holidays fall on a nonwork day (Saturday or Sunday), or should
public offices, schools and stores close in observance of a particular holiday or
to commemorate a local event, the secretary, upon direction of the police jury, may
close the office the preceding or following day and the public works director and/or
solid waste superintendent, at their discretion and with approval of the police jury,
may declare a holiday for their respective employees.
