§ 2-45. Annual leave

  • (a) Each full-time employee shall be entitled to accrue annual leave with pay based on the following schedule:

    Length of Employment Earned Leave
    Less than one (1) year None
    One (1) year Forty (40) hours
    Two (2) to nine (9) years Eighty (80) hours
    Ten (10) to fourteen (14) years One hundred twenty (120) hours
    Fifteen (15) to nineteen (19) years One hundred twenty (120) hours plus eight (8) hours for each year over fifteen (15) years. i.e. sixteen (16) years equals one hundred twenty-eight (128) hours, nineteen (19) years equal one hundred fifty-two (152) hours,twenty (20) years or more equals one hundred sixty (160) hours

     

    (b) Annual leave shall not be charged for non-work days, including holidays.

    (c) All annual leave must be approved by the applicable department head prior to taking leave. Failure to obtain prior approval shall be reason for denial.

    (d) Annual leave earned shall be posted to employee records on the anniversary date of employment.

    (e) Any unused annual leave earned may be carry forward on employees anniversary date of employment.

    (f) Upon separation from employment, payment for the accrued annual leave up to the date of separation shall be paid, not to exceed fifty (50) days, at the rate the employee is currently receiving.

    (g) Department heads leave will be approved by the parish administrator.

    (h) Absence for part of a day chargeable to annual leave shall be charged proportionally in an amount not less than fifteen-minute increments.
